AMAREN MALVASIA
Very limited production, 2,050 bottles only, sourced from vine plants older than 60 years.
Fermented and aged on its lees in fashionable concrete eggs, according to Tim Atkins the wine displays a wonderful salinity with “jasmine and wet stone aromas, a creamy mid palate and a long, focused, pithy finish”.
Very different from the usual Malvasia, Malvasia Riojana produces dry white wines, displaying medium acidity, medium body and long finish, with long ageing potential. Ideal to pair with most classic Asian dishes or to drink on its own watching a weekend sunset.
Aucala White
This wine is from D.O. Terra Alta, South of Catalonia, Spain. Aucalà Blanc is a varietal White Grenache produced following a minimal intervention.
Meticulously selected, the organically grown grapes were first gently whole-bunch pressed in an inert environment, after which they were drawn-off. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks, the wine was then aged for 5 months on its own lees and on lees coming from previous vintages.
High in acidity, medium body and long finish, thisflowery, spicy and mineral wine pairs very well with seafood and Asian food.
Viña Sastre Roble
Made from 100% Tinta pais, this Roble is the workhorse wine of Viña Sastre. It follows the traditional style from Ribera del Duero. Aged in French and American oak barrels for 8 months before being bottled unfined and unfiltered. This is a very fruity and smooth wine ideal for everyday drinking and barbecues.
Viña Sastre is committed to organic farming and biodynamic agricultural principles. All their wines are made in the most natural manner. They are never fined or filtered.
